Why We’re Relentless About Quality: An Update on Gut+
Hey everyone, BodyBio CMO, Jess Kane Berman, here. I wanted to provide you with an update on Gut+ and how we’re re-releasing this powerhouse gut supplement in 2025. I know, I didn’t want it to take this long either and I want to let you in on some of the things that go on behind the scenes when it comes to supplement manufacturing. Here’s the full story on what happened and why we had to pause production.
At BodyBio, we hold ourselves to the highest standards because our customers deserve nothing less. We believe that health starts at the cellular level, and to support your wellness, we’re committed to providing only the best ingredients in our products. Sometimes, that means making difficult decisions — like pausing production on one of our most popular supplements, Gut+.
Last year, we learned that our raw material supplier intended to change their tributyrin formula we were using in Gut+. We weren’t satisfied with this change, and it didn’t align with our rigorous product standards. Rather than compromising, we hit pause on Gut+ production to reformulate the product entirely.
The reformulation process has been a journey, and just as we were ready to greenlight the new formula, we noticed another ingredient in the capsule filler – rice maltodextrin – that we weren’t comfortable with so we went back to the supplier to find a better solution. After exploring our options, we settled on a small amount of tapioca, which met the standards approved by our scientific advisory board.
Choosing an alternative like tapioca has delayed our timeline even more by another 6 weeks! This means that we now anticipate a launch in Q2 2025. While we originally expected to have Gut+ back within a year, we know that taking the time to make the right choices is far more important than rushing to meet a deadline. We want to do this the right way the first time so that we never have to go back and make changes again, and you can expect the same high-quality ingredients in Gut+ for years to come.
